The decision started in the middle of winter.
In Wisconsin, Brittany and Ty were raising five kids when the pandemic hit. School moved online. The snow piled up. And like many families at the time, they found themselves inside for months — juggling work, virtual learning, and daily life while two feet of winter sat outside the door.
It wasn’t working.
At some point, someone said something that stuck:
You don’t have to live like this.
They took it seriously.
Within months, the family made a bold decision — relocating to St. Petersburg. They bought their home sight unseen and made the move.
They haven’t regretted it once.
"It was the best decision we've ever made," Brittany says.
Choosing a Fuller Life
The move wasn’t about slowing down.
With five active kids, life in St. Pete is anything but quiet. But it’s full — sunshine year-round, sports schedules, beach days, and a daily rhythm that happens outside instead of around the weather.
That experience — weighing risk, making a leap, and choosing a place based on how life would actually feel — now shapes how Brittany guides her clients.
Because many of the people she works with are making the same kind of decision.
They’re not just looking for a house.
They’re choosing how they want to live.
A Shift Toward Presence
When the family first arrived in Florida, Brittany was still working in the education system, where she had built a career focused on supporting families, building relationships, and leading large initiatives.
The work mattered deeply to her.
But the move made something clear.
“I realized I was struggling to be fully present — here, in this new life, and with my kids.”
She made another leap — this time into real estate.
What she found was a natural fit.
Helping people navigate big life transitions — finding a home, making an investment, helping parents downsize — brought the same sense of purpose she had always valued.
Because the common thread isn’t the property.
It’s the life change behind it.
Relationships That Last
One of the things Brittany loves most about her work is what happens after the closing.
Many of her clients stay in touch — checking in, asking questions, sharing updates about their homes and their lives.
Early in her career, she worked with a couple who would call regularly just to make sure everything was on track. Over time, the conversations became less about the transaction and more about life.
After they found their home, they invited her over for a homemade meal — a gesture that meant more to her than any closing milestone.
“That’s the part of the job I love,” she says. “You’re not just helping someone buy a house. You’re helping them build their life here.”
The Perspective Behind Drifthome
Drifthome grew out of Brittany’s own experience — taking a risk, making a major life change, and choosing a place based on lifestyle, long-term vision, and what mattered most for her family.
That perspective shapes every client conversation.
Listen first.
Understand what matters.
Then guide the decision with clarity and care.
Because the right move isn’t just about the property.
It’s about the life waiting on the other side of the front door.
